• Care for the Caregiver

    Many of us have the giving heart.  We give and give and give and feel very awkward in receiving.  We categorize it as being selfish.  It’s not . . . it’s self-caring.  As caregivers we must remember to care for ourselves just as much if not more or we will be in burn out mode and have nothing left to give.  Find ways to refuel, rejuvenate, and re-energize YOU so you can continue to be there for others.

    In addition to that, consider getting help.  Do you find yourself while you are taking care of a loved one there isn’t enough time in the day to get things done?  You want to be there for your loved one and so the dishes, laundry and dusting have been neglected. The dog hasn’t been out on a walk in a week.  There is a desperate need to get to the grocery store.
